CEDIA

In 1922, the Indianapolis Home Builders was formed. It is possible that this group is the oldest organized builder group in the United States. On February 22, 1940, the group drafted its first By-laws. The original charter from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) was issued to the Indianapolis Home Builders; this was later transferred to the Marion County Residential Builders Association in 1944. In 1969, the name was changed to the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) to reflect the building activity going on outside of Marion County. As early as 1926, a show home was built for public viewing by the Association through the cooperative efforts of its membership. The first Parade of Homes was held in 1947 and the first New Home Preview was held in 1956. In 1963 the Association presented its first Home-A-Rama. Over 500 members strong, The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis today exists so that members of the residential construction industry and related businesses can conduct their business efficiently and ethically to provide the community with reliable, safe, affordable residential construction accomplished by competent professionals in the industry. The charter jurisdiction of BAGI includes: Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties. On January 1, 2000, all BAGI builders and remodelers agreed to adhere to the Quality Assurance Builder Standards. Divided into construction phases, the Standards provide new homebuyers and remodeling customers a written set of standards addressing prevalent issues that arise. The Standards are a series of performance measurements builders and customers can use to communicate and understand each other’s expectations. Members of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis are also members of the Indiana Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. I’ve always dreamed of having a clean, modernist home, and I’m happy to say that Alice and her team at Atelier Cohen led the way to making that dream a reality! I couldn’t be more happy with the project, my house looks like it could be featured in a Kinfolk magazine. I expressed my wishes of having a clean, natural interior aesthetic and they truly delivered – the natural light in my newly designed home is to die for. They also helped me turn my dated, drab living room into a spacious and cozy space in which I can’t wait to host a party. I couldn’t recommend Alice more, if you’re looking for easy collaboration and top-notch design, you have to reach out to them!

I’ve worked with Alice on a few renovation projects and am still floored by her dedication to design and space planning. I had the pleasure of working with Alice on redecorating my childhood home that hadn’t been touched up since I was a teen in the 80’s. The whole design process was so streamlined and thorough that my fears of things going awry totally vanished after the first few meetings. They also helped me turn my claustrophobic galley kitchen into a beautiful open-space plan that makes me actually want to cook and entertain in the kitchen.
